Authenticity Matters
In this fake-it-till-you-make-it world, it is getting harder and harder to know what is genuine and what is imitation. What gets lost for the church in the process is our spiritual integrity and character. We have been arguing for more Jesus and less us. That there is actually more to this life, but it is found in Jesus and not the world.
I believe the western, Christian church is suffering from a credibility crisis; know one knows what they can trust from the church or it's people. I know when people hear the great things we are doing there is skepticism and doubt. They seem to be looking for the catch, the way it comes back to us, because after all no one would give themselves away without getting their back scratched as well. But that is not us; no quid pro quo, no scratch my back I will scratch yours, just genuine authentic faith expressing itself in love that ripples out from us every Sunday.
Our authenticity is found in a holy discontent that believes the world doesn’t have to be this way, and we refuse to sit idly by and watch it all go to hell. The truth is we are who we say we are, and Jesus gets all the credit.
