Mission experiences are training for running the race of life with the willingness to sacrifice and the joy of experiencing the presence of God. We celebrate the most important holiday in the Christian calendar: Today! Each day holds the promise of a combination of the sacrificial giving of Christmas and the joy of Easter for those who will follow Christ.
Georgianna has committed to engaging mission experiences in our community, in North America, and in Haiti and Jamaica. Our goal is to be in partnership with these communities as we both grow in learning and serving our God and His children. We sponsor medical teams twice yearly to Haiti, family mission experiences, youth mission experiences, and opportunities to participate in Vacation Bible Schools and construction projects.
The heart and scope of missions at Georgianna is best represented by the story of the women who went to the tomb after the crucifixion of Jesus. They were on a mission, taking a gift they had prepared for Jesus, but found an empty tomb.
“Why do you look for the living among the dead?”
Missions is commonly considered the taking of something we have prepared for the benefit of another. But it is not about what we bring to others, it is about following the living Christ into the world, where He lives. As the biblical account highlights, following Christ is a story of finding that it is not about what we bring; it is not about finding what we expect; it is the realization that wherever we go, He is alive, He has been there before, and He beckons us to follow Him further.
